WNFRHC receives Bridgeport News-Blade & Broadwater News microfilm!

The West Nebraska Family Research & History Center has entered into an agreement with the Bridgeport Public Library to host their Bridgeport News Blade and Broadwater News newspaper microfilm collection effective Jan 13th.  The collection consists of 51 reels of the Bridgeport News-Blade newspaper which spans the dates of 11 Jan 1901 through to 29 Oct 2003 and 2 reels of the Broadwater News newspapers which spans the dates of 6 Aug 1914  through to 2 Apr 1925

The microfilm collection will be held at the Center for an indefinite period of time however the Bridgeport Public Library may recalled the collection at any time should they purchase microfilm equipment capable of reading and printing the films.  According to librarian Tammy Covalt, “the library has no plans and no money in the budget to purchased suitable equipment to utilize the microfilm collection so the best place to host the collection is with the research library in Scottsbluff.”

We are thrilled to received this collection and are looking forward to using it to help answer research questions that may arise in and around Morrill County.  The films will be kept in microfilm cabinet 2 – drawer 1 (c2d1).
