Joann Ryan: The longer than a rope story of John “Posey” Ryan

“I expect to hang…and I don’t care” The longer than a rope story of John “Posey” Ryan.

The West Nebraska Family Research & History Center is proud to host Joann Ryan on Saturday, September 21st at 1:30pm as she tells the tale of her connection to Posey Ryan and one of the most famous murders in Wyoming’s history.  The Palmer House café’ in Guernsey, Wyoming was the location in 1909 where John “Posey” Ryan shot and killed his wife and her daughter because “they bled me of all I had” and she wanted a divorce.

Joann Ryan has spent nearly a decade researching Posey Ryan and what she has uncovered will surprise and amaze.  Joann will relate the story of a rancher, sharp businessman, Civil War solder, murderer, convict and family man – and an enigma – who knew many famous western legends during his lifetime.
